I actually got this because my Guess backpack (about this size, but with less features and pockets for organization) I got second-hand started to rip at the seams connecting the straps to the body of the bag, so I realized I was putting too much in it and needed to turn over a new leaf and stop putting my super heavy, large eyeshadow palettes and other crap I did not need to take with me every day in it. This backpack has been more than an adequate replacement! I love it so much more than my old Guess backpack. I still do maximize the amount of ample storage space, but even with a decent load, after about a month or so I have not noticed any seams splitting or cheap workmanship that would shorten the lifespan of the bag whatsoever. I really like the texture of the backpack too, kind of reinforced and not just like a slick texture, don't really know how to describe it but I think the more matte, textured finish adds to the overall look. Looks expensive. I put it down for a second while I was shopping at T.J. Maxx, and someone asked if it was on sale (assuming it was merchandise from the store) -- presumably because, it was obviously an attractive bag, for one, but second, she may have been afraid if it was not on sale she may not have been able to afford it! I told her it was mine, and from Amazon! But the most wonderful part of the look is the actual floral pattern. So delicate, feminine, and bright without being cloying. I just get happy looking at the pretty flowers on the clean white, somewhat ivory backdrop. The other wonderful thing about the bag is how it utilizes space. Very intelligently designed. On the inside in the lining, it has one zipper compartment, one large pocket, one medium pocket, and one small pocket. The small pocket would fit, for example, a small bottle of glasses cleaner with the cloth, or like a small contact solution bottle with the contacts case, with some extra space to boot, if you wanted to put lip balm or something beside it. My 9-pan, ColourPop "That's Taupe" eyeshadow pallete fits snugly in the medium pocket; since I do my makeup at work, I just carry this one neutral eyeshadow pallete in the bag to work with me everyday. Also, to make this bag last and not work too hard for me, I bought these "Portable Mini Refillable Perfume Atomizer Bottle Atomizer Travel Size Spray Bottles" you can also find on Amazon, to put my perfume in when I am on the go, so I no longer need to lug heavy, glass perfume bottles around. I do have a nice, thin, disc-shaped Tartan+Twine makeup bag from Ulta that fits so nicely in the bag, so that helps, but! -- this backpack actually came with the most adorable, matching, little zipper bag that I like to put in upright/length-wise for maximum space and efficiency, complete with the most adorable little white tassle attached to the zipper! You probably could use it for makeup too, but I put my eye cream, herbal serum, and my makeup brushes in there since it is long enough for the brushes, to keep everything clean and sanitary. What a nice touch! The bag also came with a sweet little lavender-scented satchel in one of the inner compartments! Also such a nice touch. Shows the company cares about details, which inspires me to have even more faith in this bag.I also love the security feature! It has the perfect-sized spot for a compact wallet in the rear side that will be hidden as long as you are wearing the bag as intended - on your back! I think the zipper opening is maybe around or a little larger than 8 inches long (though feel free to check the stats on the page, if it's listed) and it is deep enough to fit a pretty thick wallet; it is perfect for my needs. I also am prone to losing things, and so when I am anxious, I just feel the back of the bag to make sure I feel the contours of my wallet in there! If it was stored in the main pocket, you would have to take off the bag and open up the entire thing. But this way, I can tell if my wallet is still with me or not, quite easily, just by feeling. I also like the fact that there is a generous amount of space in the front compartment that protrudes off the body. It's big enough for little bottles, like vitamins or pain pills or something -- for example, I store my menstrual relief pills and ibuprofen in there so I always have them. My old Guess backpack just had a little slit compartment for the front; what are you going to put in there, a single notecard or half a sheet of paper in there? I also really love the side pocket on each side. Perfect for easily grabbing your car keys, the perfume atomizer for a quick spritz, or a lipstick for a quick touch-up throughout the day while you are walking or traveling -- and I can grab everything out of the side pockets while I am still wearing the bag on my back! Unless I have overstuffed it with random stuff! I can't say enough good things about this backpack! I know it's kind of strange to describe a bag as "life-changing" -- but I totally would say that about this bag! I am someone that struggles with disorganization, and this has served as such an improvement to my daily life. I have all the compartments and storage space I need for every item I would ever need for my on-the-go lifestyle. Of course I get compliments all the time on the loveliness of how it looks, but the bag is so well crafted and organized that it really is making a profound difference in how I travel and go about my day with not only effortless style, but security and ease. I hope they keep making this bag, because as much as I like variety and switching out my look, I feel that I do not want to part with this bag, ever!
